External rendering is commonly the technique used by plasterers when they wish to decorate or protect an external surface using a blend of sand and cement. After the mixture is ready the plasterer will use a hand trowel to adhere the render to the exterior surface. The climate conditions must be correct and it must not rain when the work is carried out or before the rendering has time to cure. After drying the surface can be decorated with a exterior paint or coating in your pick of colour.

From as long ago as the Roman Age numerous of different types of ingredients have been used including horsehair. Lime render was traditionally used in Great Britain up to the end of the 19th Century.During that period Portland cement was found and the mass availability of this less expensive lime replacement became the leading render. An addidional advantage of using cement was that it dried faster than the traditional lime based rendering and consequently cut building costs.

As the last century finally ended manufacturers began to investigate new components to improve the durability of these exterior wall renders. The idea was to make a product that would endure numerous years ofharsh weather patterns without requiring any further maintenance. The result was a set of advanced substrate that give many years of excellent performance with no need for any future repair.

Designed to be amazingly weather resistant, these new age synthetic renders and wall coatings have been stringently independantly tested to guarantee they stop all water ingress even in the most severe rainstorms. Also all the many varied new age renders are microporous to ensure our houses are warm and dry from january to December whilst looking pristine.

Compared to standard house wall rendering these specialist products are not designed for use by the home owner .The application of these products should carried out by a specialist firm to ensure the work is done correctly and to give the home-owner peace of mind. Please therefore obtain several to contact and check before committing an order with a contractor and do not ever pay any money until work has started.
